You have bought a new HD television, PS5 Gaming console, a new BluRay player, Xbox, Black box, TV-box. But they don’t have a RCA stereo R/L output port or 3.5mm Jack port. It cannot connect your sound system. How do you solve this issue?  This is a ordinary problem, especially for a new TV and the old audio system. You will find the SPDIF/Toslink/Optical or Coaxial output which is the digital audio output. Let us see sound system or home theater system. Most of latest sound systems have digital audio input port. However, lots of traditional sound system may be not available for digital audio port input.

It is very appreciated for our innovation. There is one small device to solve this problem. That is DAC Digital to analog audio converter. Those professional devices support converting digital signal to analog signal. Digital audio signal includes optical and coaxial signal. Analog audio signal transmit via RCA R/L or 3.5mm interface.

How to convert optical output to 3.5mm/headphone? Because output port is Optical or coaxial, you request the high quality optical cable or coaxial cable to connect the digital to analog converter. And you also need optical audio cable or stereo RCA cable to connect the digital to analog audio converter and sound system. Using the digital to analog converter, connect your PS5, HDTV, gaming console or other player sourcing into the input port labeled “ optical input” or “coaxial input”. On the other interfaces, you need to use 3.5mm cable or stereo RCA cable to plug sound system. For RCA cable, you connect white and red cable into the digital to analog converter device and plug them to your audio system. For the 3.5mm cable, you can directly connect it to converter device and sound system 3.5mm port. If your converter device is without 3.5mm output interface, you can use a RCA to 3.5mm adapter cable.

To convert Toslink to 3.5mm analog, simply:

1. Plug in your fiber optic Toslink to 3.5 mm cable into your digital audio player (your gaming console, TV, or another digital sound source)
2. Plug the 3.5 mm end of the cable into the input end of your DAC. Note: you won’t be able to plug the 3.5 mm end directly into your headphones or stereo because the sound is still digital.
3. Plug your headphones or stereo into the output end of the DAC.
